A beautifully matched pair of Italian carved alabaster urn-form lamp bases, most likely dating from the early-to-mid 20th century. Each lamp is hand-turned and carved from creamy white alabaster with subtle grey veining throughout, giving each piece its own natural character.
The classical urn form rises from a tiered square plinth through a graceful baluster stem to a generous ovoid body, the shoulders carved with stylised leaves and a crosshatch lattice detail - a hallmark of fine Italian craftsmanship. The neck tapers elegantly to a turned collar fitted with brass lamp hardware and gold twisted fabric flex.
The two lamps are well-matched in form and proportion, with the natural variation in stone tone and veining lending each piece an individual quality that speaks to their handmade origins. One lamp displays a slightly warmer, creamier tone; the other a cooler, more translucent white - together they have a pleasing, collected feel rather than the uniformity of a reproduction pair.
