A wonderfully simple Art Deco silver-plated egg cup, dating to around the 1930s, with the restrained, streamlined form so characteristic of the period.

The egg sits within a deep central cup, surrounded by a broad dished rim. It is a pleasingly sculptural little object, and one that feels particularly at home on a slow Christmas morning breakfast table.

The silver plate has considerable age-related wear and patination, with areas of rubbing, tarnishing and surface marking throughout. We have deliberately left it largely as found, as the wonderfully darkened surface gives the piece much of its character. It could, of course, be polished further according to preference.

A beautiful and very usable piece of vintage tableware, whether brought out for boiled eggs and soldiers or simply enjoyed as part of a collection of old silver.
