Made entirely by hand in the Terrou studio, this stocking has the considered, slightly old-fashioned character we wanted for our Christmas collection. It is designed to become part of the ritual of Christmas itself, brought out each December and kept long enough to acquire a history of its own.
The body is cut from a beautiful natural cotton canvas, screen printed with a tiny black ditsy flower against a warm ecru ground. The cloth has the subtle irregularities associated with its handmade production, giving the print a character that feels particularly at home alongside antique textiles.
We have paired it with a natural calico cuff and lining, finished with a wonderfully pretty cream crochet trim. A deep forest-green velvet hanging loop adds a small flash of rich colour against the otherwise restrained palette.
Each stocking is individually cut, padded and constructed in our studio using 100% natural materials, including the internal batting. The lining and carefully applied trim make it feel every bit as considered on closer inspection as it does hanging on the mantelpiece.
These are being made in very limited numbers, with many of the fabrics and trims available to us only in small quantities. It is part of what makes each design special, and means that once a particular combination has gone, we may not be able to make it again.
A proper heirloom Christmas stocking, made slowly by hand and intended to be filled, loved and brought out year after year.
