A romantic Victorian double serpent ring in warm 9ct rose gold, the entwined snakes meeting at the centre of the band in a timeless symbol of eternity and enduring love. Each serpent head is set with a sparkling diamond, their gaze further enlivened by small emerald eyes - a classic and evocative pairing of stones in nineteenth-century sentimental jewellery.

Serpent motifs became particularly fashionable during the Victorian era after Queen Victoria received a serpent engagement ring from Prince Albert in 1839, the form coming to symbolise eternal devotion, rebirth, and wisdom. Twin serpents such as these are especially poetic, often interpreted as two souls entwined.

The ring has a pleasing weight and presence at 5.22 grams, with beautifully mellow rose gold that has developed the gentle patina only time can give. The diamonds total approximately 0.44ct combined.

A charming and characterful survivor from the Victorian period.

Era: Victorian

Size: O.5

Weight: Approx. 5.22g

Condition: The diamonds are later replacement stones, sympathetically set and well suited to the ring. There is also an old repair to the back of the shank and some thinning to the band, consistent with a piece that has been worn and loved over many decades. The decorative top of the ring - including the serpent heads and emerald eyes - remains attractive and secure. Please note that the ring's hallmarks have been rubbed away, but the metal tests as 9ct gold.
