A particularly pretty little antique volume of poetry, bound in olive-green cloth with gilt decoration to the spine and a subtle embossed portrait of William Wordsworth to the front board.
Selections from Wordsworth brings together a collection of the poet’s work, edited by D. C. Somervell. This edition was published by E. P. Dutton & Company in New York and J. M. Dent & Sons in London and Toronto. The wonderfully decorative title spread is framed with dense Arts and Crafts-style foliage, with a portrait of Wordsworth opposite.
The gilt spine is especially lovely, with scrolling foliate decoration and the title picked out in gold. It has just the sort of quiet, timeworn appearance we love in an old book, and would make a thoughtful little gift for a reader, poetry lover or collector of beautiful antique volumes.
